The stars spin slowly outside the panoramic glass. Inside, gravity is a suggestion. Amber’s copper hair floats like fire as she grips the railing. Cargo’s massive hands hold her hips, anchoring her in the void.

Every thrust pushes her toward the glass, her forehead pressed against the cold transparasteel. Below them, a binary star system ignites in a supernova of violet and gold.

Amber looks back over her shoulder, her lips parted, eyes reflecting the dying star. "I... I hate how far we are from home."

The fight lasted three seconds. He batted the tool aside, pinned her against the nav-computer, and cut the power to her suit's bio-locks.
