If you’re grabbing the to binge this weekend, pour yourself a whiskey (or a ginger ale, if you’re on the wagon like Hank tries to be), and enjoy the beautiful disaster.

If you thought Hank Moody’s life couldn’t get more complicated, Californication Season 3 proves otherwise. With the rip making the rounds, there’s no better time to revisit (or discover) one of Showtime’s sharpest comedies in crisp, high-definition glory.

Season 3 is often considered the last "pure" season before the show started leaning into repetitive gags. It’s melancholic, laugh-out-loud funny, and features some of the best guest stars (including a pre-fame Game of Thrones actor you might spot).

By the time we hit Season 3, David Duchovny’s Hank Moody is a walking contradiction: a literary genius who can’t stop self-destructing. Following the emotional train wreck of Season 2, Hank finds himself navigating a bizarre new reality where his ex, Karen (Natascha McElhone), is engaged to a slick, charismatic billionaire (the perfectly cast Peter Gallagher).

9/10 – The perfect balance of sex, drugs, and actual character growth. Disclaimer: This post is for informational and review purposes only. Please support the official release if you enjoy the show.
