The COBIT framework (developed by ISACA) provides a comprehensive model for governing and managing enterprise information and technology (I&T). Central to this model is the concept of enablers .
For any enterprise seeking to govern I&T effectively—whether in finance, healthcare, or manufacturing—the enablers provide a diagnostic lens and a design blueprint. As COBIT evolves toward “COBIT 7,” the enabler model remains its structural heart, ensuring holistic, value-driven governance in a digital age. Note: ISACA has not yet officially released a “COBIT 7” as of 2026; COBIT 2019 remains the current major release. The “7 enablers” described are based on COBIT 2019 and are expected to continue in future versions. Always refer to official ISACA materials for certified implementations.
