There is a special kind of magic in the series from the early 2010s. While eFootball 2024 focuses on hyper-realism and microtransactions, the golden era of gameplay arguably peaked with Winning Eleven 2012 (PES 2012).

While we are now in the PS5/Xbox Series X era, the gameplay loop of WE2012 is timeless. The 2020 mod removes the only barrier to entry (outdated content). It is the perfect offline Master League experience—challenging, rewarding, and nostalgia-inducing.

But let’s be honest—playing the vanilla 2012 version today hurts the eyes. The kits are a decade out of date, the rosters are full of retired legends, and the stadiums lack atmosphere.
