“You remembered the station,” Linda says softly.

For a few minutes, it works. Banri laughs genuinely as Kouko splashes him. 2D-kun builds an elaborate sand castle. Even Mitsuo smiles. But then Banri wanders toward an old wooden pier. The sight triggers something—a flicker of a memory: a girl with braids, crying, a train platform. His hand flies to his head. Golden Time Episode 5

Mitsuo, reading the message, looks out the window. He doesn’t reply. He just closes his phone and sighs. “You remembered the station,” Linda says softly

Linda sits alone on a train, heading back to Tokyo. She looks at her phone—the contact Banri-chan —and deletes it. Then she opens a new message window to Mitsuo. 2D-kun builds an elaborate sand castle

Linda smiles—a sad, beautiful, final smile. She folds the map, presses it into Banri’s hand, and walks away into the dark. Mitsuo follows her, just to make sure she’s okay.

“Were you?” Kouko’s voice is quiet but sharp. “Because the way he’s looking at you right now? That’s not how you look at a friend .”
