My brothers in Islam, the Prophet ﷺ said: “There are two blessings which many people squander: health and free time.” (Bukhārī) Look carefully—the Prophet ﷺ did not say “some people” or “a few people.” He said This is the state of the majority of mankind, and even many Muslims.

Fear Allah and be mindful of Him. The Prophet ﷺ also said: “Take advantage of five before five: your youth before your old age, your health before your sickness, your wealth before your poverty, your free time before your busyness, and your life before your death.” (Al-Ḥākim, authentic) This is the complete framework of a believer’s life. Do not postpone good deeds.

After health, Allah gives you empty hours. The modern world fills them with phones, entertainment, and idle talk. Yet the Prophet ﷺ said: “Do not curse time (al-dahr), for Allah is the one who brings time.” (Muslim) That is, Allah is the controller of time. So do not waste it. Use your free time for reciting Qur’an, seeking knowledge, remembering Allah ( dhikr ), serving your parents, and calling to good. jummah khutbah salafi pdf

“By time, indeed mankind is in loss, except those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience.” (Sūrah al-‘Aṣr 103:1-3) This sūrah, which the Salaf would recite before parting, is enough to wake the heedless.

A person will be asked on the Day of Resurrection about four things, among them: “How he spent his life, and how he used his youth, and from where he earned his wealth and how he spent it, and what he did with his knowledge.” (Tirmidhī, authentic) My brothers in Islam, the Prophet ﷺ said:

I advise you and myself to have taqwā of Allah—consciousness and fear of Him in secret and public. Allah says: “O you who have believed, fear Allah as He should be feared and do not die except as Muslims [in submission to Him].” (Āl ‘Imrān 3:102) Indeed, the most truthful speech is the Book of Allah, and the best guidance is the guidance of Muhammad ﷺ. The worst of affairs are the newly invented matters (in religion), for every innovation is misguidance, and every misguidance leads to the Fire.

Do not postpone good deeds

When a person is healthy, they think their health will last forever. They delay repentance, delay prayer, delay Hajj, delay giving rights to others. But Allah says: “And worship your Lord until there comes to you the certainty (death).” (Al-Ḥijr 15:99) The Salaf would say: “Take advantage of your health before your sickness, and your youth before your old age.” How many people were strong but fell ill? How many were active but became bedridden?
