Magisk, created by John Wu (topjohnwu), is the gold standard for Android rooting. Unlike old-school roots that modified system partitions, Magisk pioneered "systemless" rooting—altering the device without touching the actual /system partition. This allowed for better hiding of root status (SafetyNet) and easier OTA updates. magisk 24.1

Version 24.0 was the risky beta in disguise; v24.1 is what should have been released as stable. It is secure, fast, and fixes the critical SELinux and Zygisk crashes. If you want to root Android 12 or 13 today, Magisk 24.1 (or newer) is the definitive tool. Disclaimer: Rooting voids warranties and carries security risks. Always back up your data before modifying system files. Published: March 2022 (Retrospective Analysis) Version: 24
