This is the film’s secret weapon. Ilsa isn’t a damsel or a sidekick. She’s a disavowed British MI6 agent embedded inside the Syndicate, and her loyalties are a complete mystery for two-thirds of the movie. She fights alongside Ethan, against Ethan, and for herself . Ferguson performed most of her own stunts, including the iconic leg-hook knife fight in the Moroccan palace. Ilsa Faust instantly became a fan-favorite character.
