Rufus versions newer than 2.5 no longer support Windows XP. Version 2.5 is the last stable release that runs on Windows XP and can create bootable USB drives for Windows XP. Part 1: Downloading Rufus 2.5 You cannot get version 2.5 from the official Rufus homepage (it serves the latest version). You need to download it from a trusted legacy archive.
