As the fifth and final live-action film in the acclaimed Rurouni Kenshin series (and a prequel to the 2012 film), El Inicio takes us back to the final years of the Bakumatsu period. This is not the hopeful, gentle Kenshin we know. Instead, we follow a young, feral assassin—a shadow fueled by ideology and bloodshed.

Samurai X: El Inicio is not just the best film in the franchise; it’s one of the best live-action anime adaptations ever made. It delivers the tragedy you know is coming with heartbreaking precision.
