The video stuttered. A third Mira flickered in the background, waving frantically, mouthing Don’t listen to her! A window opened
Mira reached into her hoodie. Her fingers touched a folded sticky note she didn’t remember putting there. She pulled it out.
“I didn’t run the executable,” Mira said, yanking the power cord.
It arrived at 11:47 PM, a notification flashing across Mira’s screen like a distress signal. CONNECTION ESTABLISHED
The screen went black. The laptop shut down. In the silence, Mira stared at her reflection on the dead glass.
Mira’s throat closed. “That’s not possible. Memory isn’t a hard drive.”
